Cory B Gusland MD was born in Chicago, Illinois, but California-raised from age 3. After growing up in Thousand Oaks CA, he received a BA magna cum laude in biology from UC San Diego. He attended UC Davis for medical school and then pursued a family practice residency through UC Davis/Shasta Cascade residency program splitting years between the main hospital in Sacramento, and hospitals and clinics in Redding, CA. Dr. Gusland has been board certified in family medicine since 1985.
After finishing residency he worked for 3 years for the National Health Service Corps in Kernville, CA. He then moved to Lompoc CA to take a position with Valley Medical Group for 25 years before leaving to assume his current position with Central Coast Medical Group. He has transitioned from previous full spectrum family practice including obstetrics and hospital inpatient to his current predominantly outpatient office practice. He enjoys pediatrics, dermatology and office surgery. Current practice makeup continues to cover newborn through geriatrics.
He has been married to wife, Anne, since 1981 and they have two grown children. Dr Gusland greatly enjoys the informal lifestyle and close relationships that go with life in a small community. In his off time he enjoys road-biking, hiking, gardening and reading.
